| Der sinnlose Vogeltod an Glasflächen beschäftigt auch mich schon lange. Laut einem Bericht werden jährlich für Millionen von Vögeln die transparenten oder spiegelnden Flächen von Fensterscheiben, verglasten Fassaden oder Lärmschutzwänden zur tödlichen Falle. Es wird höchste Zeit, daß hier Wege gefunden werden müssen, um dem Einhalt zu gebieten. Ich persönlich versuche, durch das Zuziehen von Stores/Vorhängen Spiegelungen zu vermeiden. | |

| Seit über 5 Jahren untersuchen wir eine der gefährlichsten Vogelfallen in Westfalen, das Verwaltungsgebäude von RWE/ AMPRION nördlich des Westfalenparks in Dortmund. Über 65 Vogelarten kollidieren dort mehr oder weniger reegelmäßig wegen der kompletten Verspiegelung des Hauses. Der clou ist: Die Natur liefert die Lösung des Problems greich mit. Ein "birdpen" ist nicht nötig, da bei jedem Aufprall sowohl Vogelfett, als auch Kotspritzer an den Scheiben deponiert wird. Dies verändert die UV-Eigenschaften der Glasfassaden. Durch das ständige Fensterputzen wird der natürliche Lösungsvorschlag entfernt. Nichts desto trotz empfehlen wir bei verspiegelten Gebäuden eine Netzverspannung (Netzverkleidung) der gefährlichsten Gebäudeabschnitte. Dies könnte auch Nachtzieher - und dazu gehören die meisten Singvogelarten - vor einer Kollision bewahren. | |

| Vogelschutz und Glasarchitektur werden wohl niemals konfliktfrei zueinander stehen, auch wenn es inzwischen Lösungsmöglichkeiten gibt. Hinzu kommt, daß leider in den Medien die Problematik des millionenfachen sinnlosen Vogeltodes so gut wie nicht erwähnt wird. Wünschenswert wäre, daß der aktuelle Trend der überdimensionierten Glasflächen bald der Vergangenheit angehören möge. Hoffnung dazu gibt eine neue Energiespar-Verordnung, nach der ein Neubau künftig nur noch mit 3-fach verglasten Fenstern ausgestattet werden darf, die erhebliche Kostensteigerungen für den Bauherrn bedeuten würden. | |
